The photo which was the basis for the cyanotype was taken in Kas, Turkey and you can see the the Greek island of Megisti in the distance.
 
My dear friend has a home here and you walk down the steps from her villa and can step straight into the ocean. It is breathtakingly beautiful and I hope it will conjure for you memories of long hot summers spent in the mediterranean; plunging into the salty sea in the heat of the day.
 
The gold leaf sky lends the work an otherworldly quality.

Cyanotype is a photographic process used to produce distinctively dark blue toned images.  It is a technique achieved by fusing chemicals and applying them to photosensitive paper in a darkened room.  You then place the negative image on top of the paper and expose it to sunlight.
